Moccasin Flowers
But all my life - so far -
I have loved best
how the flowers rise
and open, how
the pink lungs of their bodies
enter the fire of the world
and stand there shining and willing.

the little poem of the week
For Christmas, my mom gave me Mary Oliver's poem collection titled House of Light. One of her most classic poems from that collection is called The Summer Day (read it here), but one of my favorites from this book was this poem, titled Moccasin Flowers. I found the second stanza to be absolutely captivating, and I hope you do too.

about june
Hi. My name is June and I'm a high schooler born and raised in Brooklyn, NYC. I've been writing all my life, but this is a manifesto of all of it. I love sunny, clear mornings and the first buds on trees in the spring. I love stargazing and cozying up with a book with a blanket. I love the city and everything it has to offer, but my favorite parts are the little things. I aim to cover various nooks and crannies, the best books I've read, my favorite recipes, research I've conducted (mainly about women's heath and the misinformation surrounding it, and whatever else I find note-worthy. This blog is all about what my little things are, and I hope you enjoy them.
